Priyanka Luxx

Priyanka Luxx (formerly known as Jessica Luxx) is a singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist hailing from regional South Australia. She has been growing a loyal following over the past few years and is known for her generous and memorable live shows (solo or with band) and has become somewhat of a darling of the local indie-folk scene. This culminated in the release of her debut single Heavy Lifting in 2022, followed by The Temple & Alone in late 2023. Alone reached the number one position of Three D Radio's Top 20. Priyanka's fourth single, the enigmatic, Unspeakable Things, was released July 2024, marking an evolution in her songwriting, exploring more ethereal landscapes, and signalling a new chapter in her musical journey.Drawing from a rich lineage of artists grounded in folk, pop and contemporary music, Priyanka’s sound is an enchanting blend of 60's dream pop and folk influences. Her evolution as an artist has led her to seamlessly bridge the gap between timeless folk and modern pop, blending lush, dreamlike elements with her deeply rooted folk sensibilities. Her songs resonate with many fans of heart-on-your-sleeve balladry and have proven to be lasting favourites on community radio and personal playlists.Priyanka is set to release her next singles in April and July, followed by a debut album slated for release in the spring of this year, along with a full-length live performance video shot during her stunning show at Wilde Cat Cottage late last year.Exciting times ahead.

the temple

“It’s a song about breaking the rules, living a life free from the restraints we put on ourselves. It’s a call to let go and embrace the flow of the earth. To give in to softness and sensuality and rise above the chaos.”This is Jessica Luxx on the lyrics to her new single, ‘The Temple’, which discusses release, empowerment, violation and most importantly, growth. You may be forgiven for thinking Ms Luxx has crafted a powerful political rock’n’roll statement, even a non-conformist punk anthem – but you’d be wrong. Jessica has fashioned an elegant, charming concoction of 1960s Americana and country-flavoured dream pop with a miraculous message to remain fierce and determined. The stirring string compositions over the plucking of a banjo and swirling, sliding guitar add a cinematic value to Jess’ enigmatic vocal gallantry. As she sings “Take no prisoners to the temple”, it’s impossible not to feel empowered. Put this track next to Terah Lynn’s ‘Listen No More’ and The Chicks’ ‘Not Ready To Make Nice’ and you’re ready to rise above anything.Sounds like: Sharon Van Etten performing Patsy Cline songs for the Yellowstone soundtrack.By Will Oakeshott (The Note Magazine)
